www.aventis.com - Role: e-Business Project Manager - Aventis Pharmaceuticals requested that Darren identify and propose a global e-recruitment solution within a 2 week period. Managed the implementation of an outsource solution using vendor VirtualEdge.com. Held meetings with global team of senior HR staff from multiple countries, to design customizations of the software. Participated in negotiating $3 million agreement.

Also launched an internal sales portal using Plumtree. Also assisted with design for a third party content integration system.

www.drgaia.com - Role: Technology Manager - Increased the technical capabilities by 50% and employee productivity by 25% of Design Resources Group, an Architecture firm, by performing the following:

• Originally hired to created the corporate website.
• Subsequently hired to get all employees online. Installed broadband DSL with a Cisco 837 router/firewall and anti-virus software to enable shared and secure company-wide Internet access. Configured every employee with Internet tools, including email. Setup secure VPN for remote access to the LAN, and remote control using RealVNC and Terminal Services. Trained and supported all staff members on Internet use.
• Upgraded all HP Pentium workstations from Windows 98 to 2000 Pro; increased RAM, created standard system images with complete suite of applications, including Office XP and AutoDesk Architectural Desktop, all custom configured.
• Upgraded Server from NT to 2000. Built a backup server and FTP server. Setup backup processes for speedy system setup and recovery, utilizing system images, CD-R, DVD and tape backups.
• In 2004 , replaced all workstations with 40 new Dell Pentium 4 desktops/notebooks (leased) and 3 servers, and provided ongoing technical support for staff of 34. Rewired network ports, added network connectivity for new second floor and increased switch capacity, including gigabit fiber backbone connecting two floors. Configured Windows XP and wireless access on notebooks. Also redesigned website to utilize JavaScript menu system and bolder graphics.
• In 2006, replaced the primary server with a new Dell Windows 2003 Server.
• In 2007, assisted the company with a move to a new location.

www.PlanetOut.com - Role: Community Director and MSN Producer - Darren was a founding member and first staff member of the Web's largest community for gay men and women. He grew the company to a value of $60 million before leaving. Darren left as a full-time employee in 1998 but later returned as a consultant ito assist with Community Management.

www.sbpl.info - Role: Web site developer - Contracted with the South Brunswick Public Library, to redesign and redevelop their Web site, but keeping some of the original design components. The goal was to create a consistent interface and enhance functionality, but also allow authorized library staff to update the content themselves. Dreamweaver and Contribute were the tools selected. Components of the former design (though outdated) were reused on the new site, at the request of the Director.

www.pway.org - Role: Network Designer - Contracted with Piscataway NJ Board of Education to design telephone/data infrastructure. Completed telecommunications design to alteration and addition areas of five school buildings; the largest building connecting 450 new data/telephone ports and 50 wireless access points to 13 IDF’s and 3 MDF’s. Brought in $42,000 worth of revenue for DRG.

PSE&G - Role: E-Business Application Architect - Developed an e-Business Technical Strategy and related Standards. Implemented a 3-tier architecture using Netscape, BEA Weblogic and Oracle - running on Sun/Unix. Managed consulting vendor integec.com for roll-out and support.

TechRepublic.com/Gartner Group - Role: Integration Manager - Researched content management tools that allowed creation of workflows via GUI interface. Implemented Percussion's Rhythmyx.
