Enterprise Architecture:The terms Enterprise Architecture and System Architect (or Infrastructure Architect and Application Architect) are relatively new to the software industry. There is also no single agreed upon definition on what the exact functions and roles are for architecture. Many firms refer to Architecture as the high-level conceptual design of an application, it's required infrastructure, and it's integration with other systems. However in general, Architecture should provide a means to create efficient and effective systems, by supplying overview, by guarding consistency and integrity, and by balancing. In other words the Architect helps the development team to find its way in a rather complex, dynamic and uncertain world. An Architect creates a roadmap that provides detail sufficient to guide ongoing application or infrastructure planning, design, and implementation. Having developed an architecture for either a product/project, entire enterprise, or a combination of these, an organization will then have in place a framework for more informed decision making, including appropriate investments in technologies, products, and services. Most enterprises choose to develop an architecture plan that describes a system target (i.e., future state) set three to five years into the future. Because it always represents the desired future state of the system, the architecture gives technology managers a goal that guides their ongoing implementation activities. Ideally, System Architecture should bridge the gap between Product Creation Process and the Policy and Planning and Process. In many organizations this link is missing, which means a lot of re-inventing the wheel during the Product Creation Process, and creating Policies which are severely handicapped by lack of practicality or realism. Nyetech can help you develop a realistic and useful architecture plan ranging from application and infrastructure design for small projects to larger enterprise architecture plans.
