Web site Hosting

Although Nyetech hosts our own development Web servers used for some projects, we do not host production Web sites. We believe that certain Web hosting companies with redundant Internet connections and trained support staff on call 24 hours a day should be utilized for Web hosting.

Relating to the above paragraph, Nyetech does not typically provide operating system administration, third-party application configuration and integration, Web/http server configuration and optimization, security setup and monitoring, Web and database backups, 24/7 emergency coverage or other System Administration responsibilities. These services are typically handled by Web hosting companies. Nyetech recommends that the Client contract with a Web hosting company who provides managed services. Or if your business is based entirely online, clients should consider hiring a part-time or full-time system administrator.

As part of our Web site Design process, Nyetech can refer a Web hosting company to the Client based on the project requirements and future growth estimates. In the past, Nyetech has worked with Interland (Web.com), ServInt, Pair Networks, Peer1, 1and1, Verizon and others.

Programming/development can usually begin on Nyetech's Development Servers. However, depending on project requirements, the Client may be required to provide a development environment.

In order to ensure final approval by the Client, the Client may be required to provide a the production Web hosting environment during development - so Nyetech can effectively create the Web site on the environment where it will run as a production Web site.

Nyetech will coordinate copying the developed Web site from the development servers to the production Web servers at the hosting facility you select.

Domain name registration and Web Hosting fees are additional costs which are not included as part of this proposal.

Reporting

A generic Web reporting tool (e.g., AWStats, Webalizer, http-analyze, Pathalizer or Analog) is usually provided by the Web hosting company, in which case Nyetech can configure it to provide basic summarized Web site traffic statistics. Note: these tools do not provide detailed tracking and analysis of what individual users are clicking on the Web site; this would require that a user is logged in and tracking functionality is implemented.

Generic Web reporting tools may include the following details:

  1. Hits: Each file sent to a browser by a web server (HTML, JPGs, PDFs, etc.) is an individual hit
  2. Page Views: The number of web pages that users have requested. Multiple hits are generated by a page view
  3. Visits: An individual user or IP address that visits the site. Visits usually consist of multiple page views. This metric provides an estimate of the number of actual visitors to the site in a given time period.
  4. Average Visit Length: The amount of time that the average user spends on the Web site
  5. Referrals: How users get to the site. These include direct requests (such as the URL typed directly into a web browser), browser searches, and other Web sites that link to the site.
  6. Entry Pages: The top pages that are the first page a user sees while browsing your site (most often the home page)
  7. Exit Pages: The top pages that are the last page a user sees on a Web site. This provides information about where users may be losing interest in the site or completing their stay at the site
  8. Operating System Info: Provides information about the most popular operating systems among users (Win XP, Mac OSx, etc.)
